हमारी छोरिया छोरो से कम है क्या ?

I have recently read a book called Young and restless by Gurmehar Kaur . It is about the young Politicians of India. I will not be talking about the book but something she wrote in it that caught my eye. She was giving a little context about what she experienced with relation to caste while writing about Jignesh Mevani under the subheading 'Youth and Caste’. This is what she wrote- 'Caste...' my teacher explained in the worst way one could, ‘is a social structure based on the jobs you did. If you did honourable jobs like being a priest or being a general in king's army or you owned land, you would be of high caste; if you did jobs like making tools and clay pots you would be medium caste; and if you did dirty work like clean other people's homes and work with dead animals, then you were of the lower caste.' She said after being taught that the girls started asking each other about their caste and if someone else's caste was lower than theirs, they starte...

MBU- Marvel'ous Books Universe

Books are a man’s best friend, who would disagree ? I enjoy reading a lot. My reading journey has been interesting so I decided to share it with others. I have divided my journey into phases and each phase has taught me something. Hope you like it ! This is a long one so Happy reading ;) . To be honest ,I didn’t read any books until in 3rd grade (unless you count Clifford the big dog). I know people who started reading ever since they could read but not me. On the complete flip side I didn’t like to read at all. Reading was work for me ! Only books I ever touched were school books (that too not much). My world revolved around television and cartoons but (lyric alert!) “something happened one magical night”. In 3rd grade ,I was trying to fit into my new school so I had to keep up the trends there which at that time was reading Geronimo Stilton so I borrowed a book from a friend and started reading. That book took me 3 days ! I enjoyed it and my parents who were over the moon due to...

On the Front foot !

In the last blog I talked about how coronavirus postponed my boards. Unfortunately it is not the only important thing in my life that has been postponed. All cricket matches since then have been cancelled and IPL has been postponed indefinitely . So, since cricket has a lot of things that have been going on and it has gone on a little break where i can catch up on everything that has happened and write about a few things. Don't worry I am not going to write about how Rohit Sharma is the greatest player ever but rather I am going to talk about India's run in the women's T20 world cup and Cricket docuseries. Well Played, Girls ! We are proud of you.  First , Women's T20 world cup final, India VS Australia, Unfortunately India lost pretty bad but we have to acknowledge the fact that they played exceptionally well and had a great run in the tournament. The fact that the final was the only match they lost in the whole tournament was incredible and also a little disa...

I am not the only one procrastinating!

I have been writing exams since 27th February and thought that nothing could be worse than writing exams for a month but well now I change my opinion on that. My board exams have been postponed to after 31th March and I still have 4 exams left ! Since I have plenty of time between my next exams and not a lot of will to study for such a long time ,here is a blog where I want to share about my experience with board exams and the outbreak of coronavirus due to which my boards seem unending. So a little context , I am currently in 10th and writing ICSE board exams. In ICSE we have to write Ten exams ! Many people wonder how we have ten subjects. Unlike CBSE ,our sciences and socials are separate so we have a three and two exams for each of the sciences and social respectively as well as have two exams for English i.e grammar and literature. Other than that we have maths, second language and an optional subject. To a lot of people it sounds overkill but that is not it ,we also have a ...

Break the glass ceiling by winning 2020 !

Image
A few months back I saw this advertisement about a mixed gender Cricket T-20 match . Being a girl who is enthusiastic about cricket I was looking forward to it. Now I have realised that it has been turned down by BCCI. What does this tell us about our system ? That a challenge like this cannot be accepted by a big board like BCCI. That women are not given chances like this. That we have a glass ceiling above us through which we can see the sky but when we try to cross it we are stopped by it. We as a generation  need to break this ceiling and only then we will fly high. Over last two years, I have read many autobiographies on many Indian sportsmen and sportswomen. They are all so inspirational. The amount of hard work , determination ,perseverance , the struggles , the disappointments and the successes put into words are portrayed in these book. It is truly a roller coaster ride. Once you are up and then you are down. They teach you an important message, “If you must drea...

Tum hi ho Bandhu !

ये दोस्ती हम नहीं तोड़ेंगे तोड़ेंगे दम, मगर तेरा साथ न छोडे़ंगे ! The most iconic hindi song on friendship ever right !  In Friendship, Two friends are not together by blood relation but linked together by heart . They are two people who have the same interests or the same opinions or who just enjoy each other’s company. It is very important to have good friends in your life who will be there with you in the long run. They advice you , make you laugh, sometimes laugh at you comfort you or most of the days make you day better .They are the one with who you can cry or laugh your heart to. They are the one who you would want to get stuck on a deserted island with. I love socialising and meeting new people. I regard every person I meet as my friend. But in my case my system or opinion of friendship is a lot like Instagram. I too have a close friends list which is a small list of the most trusted and loved humans by me. I have been very lucky with finding good friends. Who...

Why did I choose to start my blog ?

Image
Which way do I travel? Growing up everyone has different ambitions which change over the years along with the change in interests. Look at me , I wanted to become a scientist when I was 7 years old. Little later in 5th standard I wanted to become a lawyer which I soon gave up because I didn’t understand what it really meant. Then for 2 years I didn’t know what I wanted to become. It is not really that bad to not know what you want to do for some time. But alas, wherever I went people asked me what I wanted to become and were quite surprised I didn’t know. Big Deal ! To be frank , I never really had anything for English but I took part in some literary competitions and did okay. Then in 8th grade, I started getting really good marks in my essays which gave me some confidence in writing. Then during one of my midnight thought trains, I wondered about a career that could be made in writing. But where did I want to go or what did I want to achieve ? I had decided from a very young age...

PS- Mom, I Love You !

Image
As I turn 15, I am blessed to celebrate it with my family and friends. My mom in the past two days has done everything in her power to make it extra special for me.It is only fitting I write about her most favourite thing after me , her school , Sunbeam Kids. So let’s me take you down memory lane through the years of my mom’s small yet biggest thing in her life, a small contribution that has made a huge affect on so many children and how it has made her what she is today, strong , independent and proud of her achievements. And being a part of this journey is truly a privilege. It started with one student ,two teachers and one school help. I have seen it grow and flourish in front of my eyes. As the school has grown even I have. We both have grown under the caring and nourishing eyes of my mother.  I was just 5 years old w hen the school started in 2009 and I used to go there for the toys. I believed I owned those toys and didn’t let the other students use it as my mothe...

HDOR is not a Hammer of THOR !

Image
Guess what, I finished the HDOR challenge today i.e. Hundred Days of Running Challenge. Basically HDOR challenge is that you have to run a minimum of 2 km for Hundred Days through the hot summer months.  I ran everyday for HUNDRED DAYS without even missing a single day. It is a satisfaction like no other. It has taught me that you must all complete what you have started. As I am sharing this milestone with you today,  let me take you through my running journey so far and how I think running can make life better. My first was a run at the age of ten years in 2014 which was the children’s day run in KBR park organised by Hyderabad Runners . It was 4Km and my overconfident 10 year old self was thinking that it will be a piece of cake but I ended up panting before the end of the first 500 m. I don’t know how I finished that run but I was exhausted and realised that running is not as easy as it seems. Running long distance without practice is like writing an exam without...
