PS- Mom, I Love You !

As I turn 15, I am blessed to celebrate it with my family and friends. My mom in the past two days has done everything in her power to make it extra special for me.It is only fitting I write about her most favourite thing after me , her school , Sunbeam Kids. So let’s me take you down memory lane through the years of my mom’s small yet biggest thing in her life, a small contribution that has made a huge affect on so many children and how it has made her what she is today, strong , independent and proud of her achievements. And being a part of this journey is truly a privilege.

It started with one student ,two teachers and one school help. I have seen it grow and flourish in front of my eyes. As the school has grown even I have. We both have grown under the caring and nourishing eyes of my mother.

I was just 5 years old when the school started in 2009 and I used to go there for the toys. I believed I owned those toys and didn’t let the other students use it as my mother had bought it and I thought that it belonged to me. Yup I was an annoying young brat.

Well, I believe a big part of the success of Sunbeam kids is the amazing staff and teachers. Everyone is so friendly, hardworking and dedicated to make the school special for each child. I have a special connection with all the teachers. They love me as their own child. The teachers always work together as a team to bring the best out of the students. Everyone has so much respect for mummy and look up to her as a role model just like I do. Mom is an epitome of hard work, care, love and determination to do well. She treats the teachers and me the same way. She scolds us, she will get angry if we don’t do well that is because she knows how much we can achieve. But she is loving ,caring and very easy to talk to. She drives me and the teachers to the best version of ourselves.

My role in the school has changed over the years. I used to go there to play at first. Now I go there as I love interacting with the students , parents and teachers.I am the happiest to see my mom as she takes a lot of pride in her work. The parents of the students are so supportive and understanding. The toddlers lighten the mood and just looking at their free , inquisitive and loving nature makes it so special each and every day for everyone around them and getting a chance to teach them in their early stages of life is truly a blessing.

It was the school’s ten years anniversary in July 2018. The school had organised a big run and the teachers made handmade medals. It was a small event but so touching as running buddies from Peerancheruvu Runners came over and were delighted to see the school's progress and the smile on mom's face was bigger than ever.

The medals caught the eyes of many and SUNBEAM Kids got a chance to make the medals for the Annual PeeranCheruvu Run in Dec 2018. They made around a thousand medals. The handmade medal was praised and loved by all but I had seen the amount of hard work that was put in by the teachers.
They stayed for extra hours after school , came to school on Saturdays just so that they can finish the work on time.
They didn’t do it for the job but out of love for the school. I helped them one day and the atmosphere was so cool, fun and there was not a single sign that they were doing extra work.

Now the school has completed 11 successful years and there are many more to come. I am very grateful to be a part of something that has given my mom confidence and satisfies her. It drives her forward every single morning. It has taught me two things, one that we must learn to work in a team. And second and the most important one that if you have a passion for something however small and insignificant it may seem to others, you must work towards your dream as nothing in this world will make you happier. I want my mom to know that I love her more than anything in thing in this world and I am very proud of her. Mothers are the best thing God has made !

  9. Keep writing. Keep experimenting. Write from your own experiences. Write how you see the world around you, not how you were told to see it. You are already doing a great job. Keep it up.
