What a Year ! Bye Bye 2020

Image
Phew, what a year! This year has been weird, unusual, uncertain, abnormal, emotionally draining, and the list goes on. It has been a wild ride until now and I am sure all of us are ready for this year to end! We all feel like nothing good has happened this year. However in darkness there is always a ray of light. So I went back into my memories of this year to find that ray of light. I would like to take you through it and please share yours in the comments below, I would love to see it. So here are the top 5 things that I look back on in 2020 that made me happy.  They are not in any order, pretty much just like this year. Turning 16 and passing my 10th standard. These both were bound to happen in the same year or well I was hoping it would. If you have read my blog about my board exams then you would know that it was delayed due to COVID and then later cancelled. The few months of uncertainty where I didn’t know if my boards would happen or not made the news of it ending was very...

You are someone's type

As you all know( or not know) I am part of the Peerancheruvu Runners or better known by the acronym PCR. We all live in the Pee'ran'cheruvu area and are passionate about running and leading an active and healthy life. We conduct Annual Anniversary runs on the first Sunday of December celebrating the number of years PCR has been going strong for. This year's event took place on 6th of December but rather than us all assembling to run, we ran our own ways and assembled (safely) for a good cause. This lockdown has made us face some really tough times. Even for people who had all the basic necessities and even luxuries. This year has become a year where I became much more grateful and appreciative for everything I had because I never lacked anything at any point of time. Still I had a hard time just sitting at home perfectly healthy and fine. However what got me back to reality is that there are people who have been suffering before and which have become way worse due to this...

RTI- Random Telegrams with Information

Image
We are taught about our fundamental rights from a very young age. As far as I remember we were taught about it for the first time in 6th grade. Fundamental rights are the liberty given to us by the constitution. Without them we would have nothing to protect us. We are taught about it so that we can be aware of our rights and so that no one can exploit us. One of the recent ones that was added to the constitution was the right to information. The basic object of the Right to Information Act is to empower the citizens, promote transparency and accountability in the working of the Government, contain corruption, and make our democracy work for the people in real sense. It goes without saying that an informed citizen is better equipped to keep necessary vigil on the instruments of governance and make the government more accountable to the governed. The Act is a big step towards making the citizens informed about the activities of the Government. We have been learning about it in our textb...

Confidence, Cooperation and Change!

Image
On 19th and 20th of September 2020, I took part in my first-ever Model United Nation , better known as MUN. Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries. The delegates attempt to solve real-world problems with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country. The one that I took part in is called the International MUN or IMUN . Out of the blue a friend of mine suggested it and my exams were too ending that week so I thought why not give it a shot. Taking part in an MUN has always been very high on my to-do list and I registered very early without exploring the event as I thought the seats would be filled if I would be delayed. I decided to read about the event after my seat confirmation. Fortunately for me, checking details about the MUN after my registration was a blessing in disguise. I would have otherwise imagined about a million different ways in which I could mess up in a MUN ha...

And Dhoni finishes off in style !

Image
MS Dhoni has retired ! The day we were all afraid of has come! I am deeply pained by this fact but at the same time I can’t help but smile at what has been an incredible journey of 16 years ! Growing up I didn’t have a clue about cricket and could only associate it with two names Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. I was a fan of Dhoni from the start but not because I watched him play or knew anything about him but because everyone around me loved him. It was only when I started watching and understanding cricket that I realised the reason.  There is a very interesting book I would like to suggest every cricket fan to read. It is called “Numbers Do n’t lie”. It is written by Aakash Chopra and is an incredible read in all sorts of ways. First of all , it doesn’t only mention the runs scored or the wicket taken, it is much more than that. The number of factors that play into each situation is different and we just can’t judge players from numbers. This book has been written in 2017 but I...

Tynkrr!

Image
So the moment you have been waiting for! What is Tynkrr about? I have already explained to you what Tynkrr means and where it has originated from, the back story etc etc. So now we are here. To the launch of Tynkrr!  We have no dearth of Social media but how many teens do you know who make content as a passion and want their voice to be heard.Teenagers have incredible potential but all of us have a big fear, the fear of being judged. Most of us don’t get over it and let our passions be to ourselves. What a waste of talent! I am a teen blogger who writes about things I see, experience and things other teens could probably relate to. I have somehow gotten over the fear of being judged. I had started out of the blue, just like that and luckily didn’t overthink a lot. I have got so much love since then that I have partially gotten over the fear of being judged. I would like to also give that chance to others. Also, there are so many people creating content and most of them are a...

Nurture our nature

Image
I love nature. I would any day go out for a walk in fresh air than sit at home. Every weekend morning we used to go for small treks to the hills behind our society spotting birds and lakes and different shapes of rocks. Rocks in Hyderabad form beautiful formations. We used to name the rocks according to how it looked. There is a very special rock which became a very important landmark for us. we called it the Guardian ro ck. It looked as though it is looking o ver the hills and the lake and guarding it. I absolutely hated it when they used to break the rocks for building purposes. I have a sticker on my door that says Rocks take 2,500 million years to form and 2 seconds to blast. I got that sticker from ‘Rockathon’ which is an event which works towards protecting our rocks. It is organised by the society to save rocks and The Great Hyderabad Adventure Club. I took part in that event twice and had a lot of fun both the times and it also helped me appreciate our rocks even more. Also T...

हमारी छोरिया छोरो से कम है क्या ?

I have recently read a book called Young and restless by Gurmehar Kaur . It is about the young Politicians of India. I will not be talking about the book but something she wrote in it that caught my eye. She was giving a little context about what she experienced with relation to caste while writing about Jignesh Mevani under the subheading 'Youth and Caste’. This is what she wrote- 'Caste...' my teacher explained in the worst way one could, ‘is a social structure based on the jobs you did. If you did honourable jobs like being a priest or being a general in king's army or you owned land, you would be of high caste; if you did jobs like making tools and clay pots you would be medium caste; and if you did dirty work like clean other people's homes and work with dead animals, then you were of the lower caste.' She said after being taught that the girls started asking each other about their caste and if someone else's caste was lower than theirs, they starte...

Why do I love cricket ?

Image
This is a question that very often pops in my head. Why do I love cricket ? Do I see cricket for the thrill of it ? Well yes I do but that is just one reason.  I love cricket because I am proud to see my countrymen on the field making our nation proud.  They inspire millions of Indians , they prove that we must never give up on our dreams however unachieveable it may seem. Cricketers are an epitome of hard work, discipline, strength, perseverance and bravery. I say brave because they are brave enough to make a choice to follow their dreams. The game of cricket is like life. It throws bouncers at you. You have to duck them. It might startle you but you must be ready to play the next ball. It could be a juicy half volley which could be hit to the boundary. But unfortunately you don’t get many half volleys in life ,do you ? You might get a Yorker , but you can hit a helicopter shot six , MS Dhoni style. But it always won’t connect will it? You could miss the bowl and ...
